Dear Colorado,

Dear Colorado,

This concerns the weather…

I don’t have Facebook …. so instead, I check the weather report 200 times a day. I know…

Let me explain…I am from Alabama and those who live in Alabama will totally agree with me. We check the weather a lot….When Alabama’s “celebrity-like” meteorologists say 10% chance of snow… every eye is glued to a TV to watch and hear “how much”… “who will get it”…. and “which schools are closed” … snow is exciting, different, and oh so pretty.. like a blanket of wintery magic.. 1 inch = snow day/ no work, right?

(I am not kidding about the “celebrities”… I used to – and maybe still- want to be one of them..)

And then when the storms roll into town in late spring… the meteorologists will tell you where the touchdowns are…. (and not the Auburn touchdowns- which I love) but the scary touchdowns that are paired with the word TORNADO..ahhhh!!!!

So in the South we check the weather….

Anyways… in Colorado…. I am starting to ask myself the question, do I really need to check the weather… ? It appears to be super predictable… and lets be honest… it is what it is and even if it does snow a foot and a half… life goes on and magical snow days just Don’t Exist… bummer (but secretly I still think snow is magical)

However, every once in awhile I think the weather experts in Colorado start throwing darts at the weather report…ya know  to mix it up a bit for the residents… like

the snowstorm last weekend… “PREPARE FOR A BLIZZARD”

that didn’t really happen.. no snowflakes at my house…not one stinkin’ flake (that 8 inches skipped us?)

Ok ok, I need to give the weather experts a little credit…I guess we did get some snow…. it just came two days later…“surprise… it is snowing” ! hmm…. I guess predicting the weather is tricky in Colorado??

and no, schools were not closed, roads were not closed like in the South..and the world got up and went to work. bummer…  Did they know I couldn’t get my truck door open that morning?…due to wet snow freezing it shut… = I climbed in passenger side in heels.

(If this happened in Alabama… we would forget work and make hot chocolate)

Colorado, I am not complaining…about the weather… or lack of accuracy in your reports.. or that my dreams of snow days and hot chocolate are, well, just dreams.. I will still check the weather report frequently :) when I am bored, but maybe only 10 times a day from now on….  you know….so I can keep up with the conversations at work….haha.

P.S. Colorado…if you are taking requests… we need rain!

Thanks,

Laines

Since in my next life I would like to be a weather girl….

Dry. Windy. Sunny. Windy. Cold. Windy. Sunny. Snow- wait just kidding. Windy. Dry. Windy. Flurries. Windy. Dry. Cold. Hot. Dry. and Windy.

(generally windy)

That is the weather report I just made up in my head for this week… $10.00 I am right… :)
